The Convention Center opened April 1959. Over 5,000 delegates attended the World Congress of Flight. There were not enough hotel rooms to accomodate them and the residents were asked to put up delegates in their homes. An accidental fire at Club Utopia caused $100,000 in damage Monday night, according to Clark County fire officials. Arson investigators determined the cause of the 11:15 p.m. blaze was electrical, caused by an air conditioning unit on the roof of the facility across the street from the Monte Carlo hotel-casino. The club is only open on weekends so no one was in it at the time of the fire. A spokesman for Utopia refused comment.

Dance the night away!

The LuxorClub RA at the Luxor
Club RA at the Luxor
(262-4400)
While it is certainly not the largest it is one of the most happening clubs in Vegas right now. It features one level, above average service and an awesome laser light show. Yes, with lasers there has to be smoke and while it can get a little out of hand some nights, they do have some air moving equipment that can clear the room like magic. They usually have some real cute ladies dancing in cages and on poles. The dance floor will even cool you off occasionally by shooting cool air straight up. You'll find plenty of people to dance with but don't plan on much conversation. It is simply too loud and unless you head back to the hallway leading to the restrooms and phones you won't hear anything they are saying.

If you are staying at the hotel, you can't go wrong at Club RA. Unless it's some special event you'll not only get to use the VIP entrance, they usually let you in for free!

The Beach - 365 Convention Ctr. Dr.
(731-1925)
A long time favorite located just across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center. The dress code is similar to the RA and you need to dress to impress. No ripped or baggy jeans excepted here. The Beach features one dance floor in a two story building. And while the employees only offer average service they do offer excellent entertainment! Both the male and female staff members do brief shows every so often to get the crowd going. And yes, the ladies do serve you beer in bikinis.

A great club for having fun and the second floor provides a nice place to relax and people watch.
